Please feel free to contact me regarding your vision of healthcare excellence for our region.”
Keith was born in southeastern Saskatchewan and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He has always considered himself a displaced farm boy. You can take the boy off the farm but you can’t take the farm out of the boy. There will always be part of him that is attached to the farm. Keith is married to his childhood sweetheart and has two grown daughters.
Keith’s life was strongly influenced by his involvement with the Cadet movement and time in the Militia. These organizations provided him with a strong sense of personal discipline, organizational skills and leadership training. They also provided him with a sense of giving back and a responsibility to his community and his country.
As well Keith apprenticed as a Chef in Calgary and led culinary teams in several private professional clubs and private golf clubs. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Keith has owned several food service businesses in Cochrane, Grande Prairie and Medicine Hat including being a partner in The Grande Prairie Keg Steakhouse and Bar for twenty-one (21) years. These businesses led Keith to his desire and necessity to be a lifelong learner taking business and leadership courses through the University of Athabasca and the University of Calgary. Throughout his career in business, he always believed in giving back to the communities in which he does business and has always seen it as a key responsibility and success factor. After thirty-five (35) years he left his culinary and entrepreneurial pursuits behind to pursue a career in philanthropy.
Keith has been a board member and Chairperson for a number of Grande Prairie organizations and charities over the past twenty-five (25) years. Currently he is the Vice-Chairperson for the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, Canadian Council and the Chairperson of the Strategic Renewal Committee for the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy Canada.
On a personal level, Keith enjoys skiing, hiking, kayaking, fishing and is an avid reader. It is not uncommon for him to have four or five books on the go at any given time.
