In Memoriam Furniture...

This bench is kindly donated by Debbie’s co-workers and employer, New Horizon Co-operative. Debbie worked for the Co-op for twenty years and was an important part of the Co-op family. Efficient and kind, she was valued professionally and personally.

She enjoyed her travelling adventures, whether it was relaxing on a warm beach or exploring historic relics. The blessing on her plaque is an Irish one – one of her favourite places to visit, and her own family’s heritage.

May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again, my dear
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”

Debbie was a collector – hundreds of books, Santa’s, Royal Family memorabilia, ornaments and figurines. These things gave her joy. She especially loved kids and there was always a treat in her desk for the little visitors to the office.

She believed in the joyous value of little moments and little treats. For her, that was the good chocolate, her dogs, all things Christmas, a bouquet of flowers at her desk, a lawn chair in the river, country music concerts, a good book and —most of all— time chatting and loudly laughing with her friends and family.

Debbie was an avid reader and it is our hope, you can enjoy a moment of rest, and perhaps a little treat of your own, here on her reading bench.
