Construction provider for the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital issued Notice of Default Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation
Grande Prairie, AB – July 31, 2018
The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation will continue its mission to work with the community to raise and manage funds to enhance patient care and education at the QEII Hospital and the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.
The Foundation is aware that the construction provider for the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital has been issued a notice of default because of the outstanding construction schedule and contractual obligation issues.
We support and trust that this step by Alberta Infrastructure is in the best interest of healthcare in our region. We know that completing this project remains a priority for the Government and Alberta Health Services.
This news does not change our commitment to supporting healthcare services in Grande Prairie and the surrounding region.
As we reach the halfway point of our Key to Care Capital Campaign we continue to work to fund essential specialized equipment, major projects, patient care programs, and education in our region.
We want to thank everyone for their dedication and contributions to both the QEII Hospital Foundation and the GPRH Foundation, and are grateful for their continued support.
We understand that this news may cause some anxiety and frustration. Many of you are looking forward to the opening of this new state-of-the-art healthcare facility – we are as well.
As AHS’ partner, we will continue working with the Grande Prairie and region donor community to support excellence and innovation in patient care as we all look forward to the new hospital.
The Government of Alberta’s official news release about this decision is posted on their website.
